What reason would a stingray have to sting someone?
This might sound stupid…But I was at the beach yesterday and it was filled with the non-stinging jellyfish and then some stingrays. I was too scared to get in too deep in case I got stung by a stingray.
What do they use their stingers for? Do they use it for self defense or to kill their prey or what?
And is there such thing as a sting ray with out a stinger? (I heard there was and they were called mantas).
I know I sound stupid but I’m TERRIFIED of fish (and anything that lives in the water really) and I want to make sure that if I do go in I’ll be safe.
Oh, and when I did get in, I don’t know if I was paranoid or not, but I’d swear they were touching me. 
(and something grabbed onto my wrist. Do stingrays have teeth? (I know their mouths are on their tummy area).
Again, I know this sounds stupid.
Stingrays will sometimes sting when they feel threatened, but it’s rare. I’ve seen stingrays once in the mall of america, and they love people! They kind of acted like dolphins and would stick their heads out of the water because they wanted me to pet them. They’re so cute!
